In obedience to the word of God and the VISION AND BURDEN given to him for the state of Bihar , Bro.Augustine Jebakumar, a qualified Tool Designing Engineer, a native of Sawyerpuram Tuticorin, Tamilnadu, travelled to Bihar in 1972 to reach out to the unreached souls of Southern Bihar. He reached out to the villagers and tribals in the ROHTAS district. His committed untiring service of spreading the word and love of GOD led to the birth of Gospel Echoing Missionary Society (GEMS). For the past 38 years GEMS HUMANITARIAN SERVICES has toiled to make lives better and has brought about economic , physical, emotional and spiritual transformation thro’ the inspiration and teachings of LORD JESUS.
Our family had the opportunity to visit Bihar ( Sikaria- Rohtas dt) to witness Brother’s untold service and we would like to share our experiences with you.
Thro’ the following Clippings we would like to throw light on the missionary services undertaken by GEMS.

The following are the various projects undertaken in SIKARIA:
1. DAYA SAGAR- polio rehabilitation centre for boys and girls
This centre was started in 1997 and it is the only rehabilitation centre in BIHAR. The children are given education and taught vocational courses for self employment.
2. HAPPY HOME-- orphanage for children (girls)
Children are given very good care and we can see their happy faces singing praises to God.

3, PREMSAGAR -- Home for the Missionary children (boys & girls)
As the missionaries are in the fields serving the poor and needy , their children are educated in GEMS schools and looked after in homes.
4. ANOKA HOME---Orphanage for boys
Deserted by their families these kids find solace in these homes
PROJECTS AROUND SIKARIA
1,OUR PEOPLE’S PROJECT --- DAY CARE CENTRE
Caters to the needs of the children in the surrounding villages, gives them basic education for a healthy life with a spiritual background.
2,KARWANDYA PEOPLE’S PROJECT---(20kms from Sikaria)
GEMS is successful in its struggle in safeguarding the interests of the children of Quarry workers & prostitute village. These children are educated morally and spiritually.
3. ITI IN KARWANDYA
Nearly 475 students in & around Bihar are studying here. The institute paves way for a bright future by equipping the youth technically.
There is also a BOYS HOME inside the campus.
4. MAANU
MAANU is near ROHTAS MOUNTAIN (20 kms from Sikaria)
It is a mountainous region, Naxalite prone area without proper roads. GEMS has penetrated this dangerous area to reach out to the tribal villages & established a day care centre & school for the tribal children.

5. ROHTAS MOUNTAIN
On the top of Rohtas very backward tribals are living without water, electricity and social awareness. GEMS MISSIONARIES have catered to their needs and established schools and churches. We could not reach the top as trekking is the only mode of transport.

6. BOULIA
At the foothills of Rohtas an orphanage is run for boys from the surrounding villages.
7. DAUDH NAGAR (60kms from Sikaria)
GEMS is running a home for the boys and a church
These are a few droplets from the VAST OCEAN OF MISSIONARY SERVICE, as we had a short stay & could visit only a few places.
GEMS has spread its branches to U.P, MAHARASHTRA, JHARKAND & NEPAL.
Every man born in this world is called for a purpose to serve GOD in different ways.
But man ,caught in the MIRY CLAY of WORLDLY PLEASURES, forgets this naked truth-------
“OUR PERMENANT ABODE IS IN HEAVEN”
So, let us resolve to sow seeds of goodness, kindness, &love for our brethren to reap a bountiful harvest for GOD’S KINGDOM.
Please pray for Bro. Augustine Jebakumar, his family and his fellow missionaries (more than 2000) that they may strive by GOD’S GRACE in this selfless service to glorify GOD.
